About Us The MaliVai Washington Kids Foundation was founded by former professional tennis player MaliVai Washington in 1994. MWKF first began offering programs in Jacksonville, Florida in 1997. The foundation has now expanded to offer programs and activities for many underserved youth in some of Jacksonville's most challenged neighborhoods.
In 2000, TnT (Tennis-n-Tutoring), a comprehensive afterschool program, was created to serve the youth in Durkeeville and surrounding areas. MWKF also evolved from a private foundation to a 501 (c)(3) designated non-profit organization in the same year. MWKF now offers three programs to incorporate first grade through high school students with the goal of supporting the "Total Student-Athlete". The core areas of support are Academic Support, Tennis, and Life Skills Classes. In addition, family night activities, community service projects, special events and field trips are also offered. In 2008, MWKF dedicated the $3million+ MaliVai Washington Youth Center at Emmett Reed Park, a state-of-the-art tennis center and youth facility.
MWKF also offers competitive tennis programs, a summer camp and community partnerships and programs through the MaliVai Washington Youth Center.
