MWKF Announces Player of the Year & Scholarship Recipients

Jacksonville, Fla. – June 27, 2007 – Recently, the MaliVai Washington Kids Foundation announced its 2007 scholarship awards recipients. Recognized during the awards ceremony were MWKF’s Extra Effort, Jax Golf Slice for Life, Take Stock In Children and Mercedes-Benz “Drive Your Future” scholarship recipients.

Also announced during the ceremony was the 2006-2007 MWKF Player of the Year. This year’s distinguished recipient is Reggie Bryant. Reggie is a rising 10th grade student who attends Robert E. Lee High School. He will have the honor of speaking at the 11th annual Mercedes-Benz/MaliVai Washington Golf & Tennis Gala, which takes place September 10th and 11th.

Scholarship winners include: Marc Atkinson (Jax Golf & Mercedes-Benz), Keanna Bell (Extra Effort), Deshawn Brown (Take Stock), Reggie Bryant (Player of the Year & Jax Golf), Adrienne Clark (Extra Effort), Markevius Collier (Jax Golf & Mercedes-Benz), Cicely Davis (Take Stock), Shadarian Davis (Take Stock), Tyrone Davis (Extra Effort), Benzell Lang (Extra Effort), Devon Price (Take Stock), Ne’Shele Scott (Extra Effort & Take Stock), Kenia Stokes (Take Stock), and Jazzauria Williams (Extra Effort).

Since its inception the MaliVai Washington Kids Foundation, along with its partner organizations, has provided an estimated $250,000 in scholarships to its students.

About MWKF
The MaliVai Washington Kids Foundation was established by ’96 Wimbledon finalist MaliVai Washington to introduce the game of tennis to youth who otherwise might not be exposed to the sport and use it as a tool to help develop positive life skills and encourage academic achievement. MWKF runs a free, comprehensive after-school program in the Durkeeville area and has introduced tennis into the lives of more than 14,000 local children.
