News Releases FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Celebrities and Exotic Vacations Highlight 9th Annual Mercedes-Benz/MaliVai Washington Golf and Tennis Gala Jacksonville, Fla. (August 19, 2005)—Tickets are nearly sold out for the Ninth Annual Mercedes-Benz/MaliVai Washington Golf and Tennis Gala. The two-day event consists of a tennis pro-am on Monday, September 12th at Deerwood Country Club and a golf pro-am the following morning at Marsh Landing Country Club. The gala dinner and auction will take place Monday night, September 12th at the Sawgrass Marriott Resort and Spa. Celebrities joining host MaliVai Washington include former world number one Ivan Lendl, Todd Martin, Rosie Casals, Cliff Drysdale, Zina Garrison, Brian Gottfried, Luke Jensen, Brenda Schultz McCarthy and others. Tony Brackens and former Jaguar Eugene Chung will be joined by New England Patriot Johnny Rembert, Chicago Bear Emery Morehead and former pros to represent the NFL. Former hockey star Ron Duguay and wife, supermodel Kim Alexis, along with several actors and former Olympians will also take part to support the cause. In all, 35 celebrities are scheduled to participate. Last year’s event raised over $100,000 and pre-sales this year predict even greater success. All proceeds from the gala support the services and programs of the MaliVai Washington Kids Foundation across the First Coast. Auction items are still being submitted, but those confirmed include a trip to the Mercedes Golf Championships in Hawaii, with first-class airfare and lodging at the Ritz Carlton; a total nine-night hotel stay in Ireland, Switzerland and Spain; a four-night stay in Greece; tickets to the President’s Box at the US Open and a behind-the-scenes tour and VIP seats at the Nasdaq 100, as well as in-town getaways to local resorts. Other items include local dining packages, professional tennis lessons, golf outings and various services, products, and celebrity memorabilia. Tickets for the event are going quickly, with less than 30 seats available for the dinner and auction. The tennis pro-am is sold out, with waiting-list only reservations.
