News Releases FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Comcast Grants $120,000 Over Three Years Jacksonville, Fla. – October 26, 2005 – In a continuing effort to support its surrounding community partners, The Comcast Foundation has awarded the MaliVai Washington Kids Foundation (MWKF) a $120,000 grant. Funds from the grant will be distributed over a three year period at $40,000 per year. The grant was provided to support two specific components of MWKF’s “Tennis and Tutoring” (TnT) after school program: Reading, Writing and Racquets, which improves literacy among its participants, and MVP (MaliVai’s Partners), which teaches young people the value of serving their community. “Through its dedication to making a positive impact on the youth in our community, MWKF has affected the lives of many. We are happy to lend a hand to help ensure the programs continued success,” said Bill Watson, vice president of operations. Since its founding in 1999, The Comcast Foundation has distributed over $18 million in support of programs implemented locally in Comcast communities. This grant to MWKF is in recognition of Comcast’s commitment to the communities where its customers and employees live and work. “We could not be more excited about our partnership with Comcast,” said Terri Florio, executive director of MWKF. “It not only allows us to sustain existing programming for our youth, but will allow us to expand our efforts in the coming year as we look toward moving into our new facility.” About MWKF: ### |
