Tennis and Tutoring (TnT)

MWKF’s core program is Tennis and Tutoring (TnT). TnT is our comprehensive five-day after-school program located at the Emmett Reed Center in the Durkeeville section of Jacksonville. We provide a FREE three-hour after-school program consisting of one hour of homework assistance, one hour of character development/community involvement programs and one hour of recreation, which includes at least two days of tennis instruction.

kidsTnT serves kids from first through sixth grades. Graduates of this program may move on to the Leadership Program by excelling in tennis and maintaining good performance in school.

The TnT program is improving young lives every day. Most importantly, our young people know that they have choices and the support of an extended “family” at MWKF to help them reach their goals. The youth participating in TnT are becoming champions in the classroom, in the community and on the tennis courts . . .

. . . In the Classroom
Compared to their peers, our kids have higher test scores, better conduct and significantly higher attendance rates in school. We stress the importance of education and encourage our kids to pursue higher education, especially since many of them will be the first in their families to attend college.

. . . In the Community
Our students learn the importance of helping others. They visit nursing homes, read to younger children, clean-up litter, host tennis clinics for disabled youth and much more.

. . . And on the Court
Tennis provides positive and powerful motivation for our TnT kids. Our participants love to play and that interest keeps them in the program. Success on the court teaches the value of hard work, which builds self-esteem, leadership, confidence, discipline and accountability.
