Annual Activities

Join us throughout the year

January - February

The Servathon is a return of service on behalf of the many donors and volunteers who serve us each year. Each year from MLK Day to President's Day the youth in MWYF perform various community service projects as a thank you to the community. Past projects include cleaning up the park and neighborhood, making Valentine’s Day cards for the elderly, conducting Random Acts of Kindness, reading to day care students, conducting tennis clinics for disabled youth, volunteering at local homeless shelters and donating funds to local children’s hospitals and health awareness organizations.

Scholarship Awards Ceremony

Each May, MWYF holds a scholarship awards ceremony to present many of our students with scholarships for secondary education once they graduate from high school.

Scholarships are awarded for academic excellence and extra effort off the court. Youth can begin to earn scholarships as early as 5th grade.

Past scholarships have included: The George M. Soper Student Athlete of the Year Award, The Rick Murray “Don’t Quit” Award, Carol Hadley Service Scholarship, Sherry Murray "Extra Mile" Scholarships, iMethods Scholarship, Take Stock in Children Scholarships, Kaleb Johnson Scholar Award, Ethan Strong Scholarship, Keshell & Keyonna Memorial Scholarship, and Zoe Gaudet Scholarship.

Champions for Children Gala

The Current/Sherman Group Champions for Children Gala is held each fall at Florida Blue and serves as MWYF’s largest fundraising event.

This two-day event is comprised of a Gala & Dinner honoring MWYF’s most successful youth and features live and silent auctions, as well as a Tennis Pro-Am the following day.

Thanksgiving Baskets Program

The Thanksgiving Baskets Program is  held each November to assist the families of the TnT program.

Friends and supporters of MWYF as well as corporate sponsors champion the local community to help collect canned goods and packaged items during the months of October & November.

Volunteers then help bag and deliver the food to our families’ homes the morning before Thanksgiving!

Holiday Angels Program

The Holiday Angels Program is all about spreading holiday cheer.

Generous sponsors and supporters serve as “Angels” to youth in the TnT program by providing a new gift or toy, outfit, and tennis shoes for the holiday.
