NEW TEEN CENTER

At this year’s 22nd Annual Current/Sherman Group Champions for Children Gala, Mayor Lenny Curry announced our partnership with the City of Jacksonville to build a new Teen Center! The center will round out our Durkeeville campus which currently consists of a Youth Center, tennis complex and the COJ’s Emmett Reed Center and Emmett Reed Park. Our new Teen Center will allow us to nearly double the number of students served in our elementary program and the capacity to triple our middle and high school programs. In addition, students and community members will be able to participate in test preparation, social skills classes, college tours and application assistance, and classes on how to get and keep a job. The new center will be built on unoccupied land adjacent to the Emmett Reed Center and across the street from our current youth center.

Teen Center Features:

  • High school lounge & patio

  • High school quiet room (study hall)

  • Teaching kitchen

  • Game room

  • Multipurpose room/theater

  • 4 middle school homework/activity rooms

  • Offices for management staff
