After School Program Coordinator

This newly created full time (32-40 hrs per week)  position at the MaliVai Washington Youth Foundation requires a versatile person who is equally comfortable working in an office environment and in program space, primarily with elementary aged students (although will have interaction with all students K-12).

Duties & Responsibilities

  • In the mornings, this position incorporates program administration. The coordinator will cover the front desk (phones, doors, accepting packages, etc.) and be responsible for preparing regular program paperwork. 
  • Special event tracking, updating enrollment data, attendance and checkout sheets, assisting the Program Manager with preparing and cross checking reports as well as all program clerical—filing, copying, etc. 
  • Ensure that the classroom bulletin boards are updated regularly.
  • Major projects during non-program hours will include managing the DCPS Parent Approval process, organizing and creating special contests and events, scoring program quality assessments and developing the curriculum for recreation.
  • During program hours, this position will assist the Program Manager with the supervision of the elementary program. This will include working with students on thank you notes, supervising program van runs, spot checking the recreation staff and serving as a van driver, classroom substitute or snack supervisor as assigned.
  • Oversee staff Quality Assessments, providing documentation of classroom activities on a regular basis. 
  • Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or AA degree with related experience; could be junior or senior in college.
  • Willingness to complete DCF required trainings during first year of employment.
  • Must have a current Florida driver’s license and a 3 year clean Florida driving record

Assistant to the Executive Director

This newly created entry level position at the MaliVai Washington Youth Foundation requires a versatile person who is equally comfortable working in an office environment but also being engaged with youth of all ages (kindergarten through high school).   This position will serve as the primary assistant to the Executive Director.  Position can be structured as part time (25-30 hours per week) to full time (32-40 hours per week) based on the right candidate.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Administratively, the assistant to the ED will serve as back up support for the front desk as well as filing, copying and organizing for the Executive Director. 
  • Manage insurance and business renewals, assist with board meeting preparations and manage the shared staff calendar. 
  • Assist the Executive Director with the preparation of reports as needed. 
  • Assist with general bookkeeping and accounting duties including coding bills and deposits for the CPA, calculating payroll hours and time off requests, assisting with bank transfers and pulling accounting reports, and assisting with grant reporting as needed.
  • On the Program side, the Assistant will manage the scholarship and savings plan programs for students and alumni as well as assist with the program quality assessments and observations. 
  • At times, this position may need to assist with errands, school pickups and other minimal transportation responsibilities.
  • This position will also assist with administrative work for fundraising including our capital campaign, gala fundraiser and donor relations.

Program Staff - Part Time

Part Time staff members are needed for our after school youth development program.  Program staff will work in a variety of positions providing support and activities for youth in kindergarten through high school. 

There are two separate programs we are staffing for:  Elementary (K-5th Grade) and Leadership (Middle & High School).  Candidates will have strong classroom management skills and be able to assist with homework and conduct enrichment activities.

Candidates must be available (at a minimum) 3pm-5:30pm Monday-Thursday, although full shifts are from 2:30pm-6pm Monday-Friday.

Past experience working with children (paid or volunteer) is a plus.

Successful candidates must pass a full background screening. Drug Free, EOE.
